Now let’s talk about the promise of paradise. The Quran says that if a man dies in the name of Allah, he’ll be welcomed by 72 virgins. But what does a woman get? A husband. That’s it. That’s the reward structure? And people defend this by saying it’s metaphorical, that it was written in a language people of the time would understand. But why use that metaphor at all? Why use lust as a tool to sell faith? Saying “that’s what people could understand back then” is just a way of saying people were too primitive to grasp higher concepts, which is a ridiculous assumption. And if the reward is supposedly not gendered, then why not write it that way? Why leave it so vague and so open to sexist interpretation?

And this ties into a bigger issue—patriarchy. The Quran has verses asking men to lower their gaze when speaking to women. That’s respectful. That’s actually liberal in a lot of ways. But how do you go from that to requiring women to cover themselves from head to toe or else be blamed for tempting a man into assaulting her? The modesty that starts as a choice turns into a cage. Now to the most dangerous part: the loopholes. Not all terrorism is Islamic. Of course not. But the issue is that Islamic extremism thrives because it’s easy to find ammunition in the text. Groups like ISIS don’t invent things. They pull from scripture. They scream “Allahu Akbar,” quote the Quran, and frame their violence as divine justice. And no matter how loudly the progressive Muslim community says “That’s not real Islam,” the extremists believe it is. They have their verses. They have their slogans. Some say it's because Hindus have historical trauma—centuries of being persecuted by Muslim rulers. That might be partly true, but let’s be honest: most Hindu-Muslim conflicts were about land, power, and superiority. Not about religion. Yes, conversions happened. Yes, atrocities happened. But the same happened under Christianity. So what? If Hinduism doesn’t promote violence, then why are people using it to justify hate?

Because influence matters. Religion isn’t a neutral tool like a knife. A knife can’t convince someone they’re superior. Religion can. And if Hinduism is such a great way of life, and if it’s so full of “peace” and “wisdom,” then why can’t it stop people from taking it to the extreme? There are no reports of Protestants urinating on Catholics, but there are reports of upper-caste Hindus urinating on Dalits. This isn’t an isolated issue. It’s woven into the social fabric, and despite all the philosophy, all the spirituality, the religion has been powerless to stop it.

And the result? Hindus fighting other Hindus. Not even outsiders. The biggest enemy of a Hindu today is another Hindu. The one who thinks he’s purer, holier, more “dharmic.” The one who thinks he’s born superior because some scripture said so. That’s how deep it’s gone. And it’s insane—because Hinduism says pride is a sin. But now, pride is exactly what fuels extremism. One may say: “Detachment doesn’t mean rejection, it means non-dependence. Enjoy your pizza. Fall in love. Make billions. Just don’t let it own you.” Sounds clean. But if that were really how it worked, then why is renunciation always glorified in scriptures? Why are those who reject everything treated as the highest spiritual beings? These guys talk in slow voices, say obvious things, and act like they’ve unlocked some universal secret. “Don’t be angry.” “Live in the moment.” Yeah? No shit. But people eat it up because it sounds wise. Of course, wisdom is in noticing simple things but it also needs to be profound. These people are getting away with it and when someone questions it, they immediately say, “You’ll understand one day.” That’s the spiritual version of “I’m right and you’re too dumb to get it.” **_That's intellectual cowardice masked as spirtual maturity_**. No one can argue with these people. They’ve built an ideology that can’t be touched. If someone doesn’t agree, they say, “You’re not ready.” If someone questions the logic, they say, “You’ll understand in time.” What a convenient way to shut down anything that challenges the narrative. They just follow the same quotes from ancient books, the same logic loops written by other so-called enlightened people, without ever stopping to ask: Does this even make sense anymore?

It’s an echo chamber of pseudo-intellectualism. Half of it is just recycled philosophy dressed up as divine revelation. And most of these people aren’t peaceful or free, they’re just emotionally detached in the name of self-detachment. **_Instead of conquering their demons, they just left the battlefield_**. All of these enlightened characters still fought, still desired, still acted. And yet the philosophy preaches that there is no good or bad? Then why bother fighting evil or doing anything?

This entire extreme liberal side of Hinduism has messed up the idea of growth. It tells people not to want more. Not to try harder. Not to build anything. Because why build in a world that’s “just an illusion”? It teaches people to just surrender. Let go. Do nothing. The poor man is told not to chase wealth. The broken man is told to let go. The frustrated man is told to just accept it. What kind of mentality is that? In the name of peace and wisdom, it disguises and promotes passivity.

This is the heart of the problem. Hinduism, by being too flexible, too open-ended, too full of contradictions, has created room for two extremes to thrive. One extreme says, “You are superior to others.” The other says, “Nothing matters.” One divides, the other sedates. And both sides are convinced they’re right. You can question spiritual escapism, but you’ll be told you’re too ignorant to understand. Both extremes are self-reinforcing, and neither welcomes reform.

Buddhism’s version of extremism is even harder to confront. It’s not loud. It’s passive. It masks apathy as peace and silence as wisdom. You can’t argue with someone who thinks arguing is attachment as you’d be deemed attached to your ideology. You can’t reform what denies the value of reform itself.

The truth is, extremism adapts. It mutates. It hides in the language of purity, peace, tradition, and liberation. You can resist it, name it, and expose it. But fix it? That might be asking for more than any religion—or any system—can offer. We may never stop extremism.
